Our house

OUR HOUSE

The place of our production is the mirror of our centenary origins. Since 1924, when our grandfather, Eustachio Porreca, riding these wild roads, halfway between Puglia and Basilicata, he already imagined that right there, between Genzano di Lucania and Acerenza, a few kilometers from the Monteserico Castle, the our pasta. In the same way that his wife Antonietta prepared it every week with unparalleled wisdom, passing on its secrets to their daughters, Cosetta, Emma and Alba. Right here, a stone’s throw from thousands of wheat fields, is our house, which proudly preserves the same teachings as it once was, also through the use of wooden frames and bronze molds for drawing.

BETWEEN APULIA AND BASILICATA

It is in these places that our patient craftsmanship takes place every day. A millenary territory, once the undisputed reign of Frederick II of Svevia, the Stupor Mundi. And it is right here, between the Lucanian bradanic valleys and the rolling hills of the Apulian Murgia, that our superior quality wheat is born and matures. An enchanted place, overlooked by lesser kestrel hawks where, for over a century, we have kept the same process that makes our products unique. From conchiglioni to orecchiette, from calamarata to candele, from paccheri to strascinati. Dozens of pasta shapes of durum wheat semolina and wholemeal semolina pasta obtained exclusively from our precious grains and from pure spring sources. Absolute quality, guaranteed by the rigorous selection of original materials, proudly produced a few hundred meters from the pasta factory.

FROM HERE TO THE WORLD

The nature of the Apulians has always been to look beyond. In our family, the first to venture outside their regional borders was Eustachio Porreca who, in his early twenties, left his native Barletta, in Puglia, to reach Basilicata. The Cafiero Counts who had already valued it in the lands of San Ferdinando di Puglia, decided that there was a need for someone like him, an honest man dedicated to work, to manage the many estates around the Castle of Monteserico. Today as yesterday, the third generation travels the world, to make known the quality of their pasta. Munich, Shanghai, Buenos Aires, New York, are just some of the international capitals that, so far, have proudly embraced its tradition.

ITALIAN IDENTITY

Italy has the largest agri-food heritage in the world. An absolute excellence that stands out in terms of quality, sustainability and respect for tradition. A unique country, characterized by great territorial and climatic diversities that have been shaped in cultures, histories and traditions, exceptionally varied and unique, just like for our pasta. Characteristics exported, almost always, by family-run companies, which have wisely focused on enhancing the uniqueness of their products. A process supported by close ties with the territory and cultural heritage and the ability to combine tradition and constant innovation. This is also why the implementation of our exports is explained, further confirmation of the strong bond that unites Italian agri-food excellence to its territory of origin.
